help with simes' xwing please

Postby Guest » Mon May 30, 2005 7:34 am

Hi all (especially Simes, who set this puzzle!)

We have been attempting to solve a puzzle found on http://www.simes.clara.co.uk/programs/sudokutechnique6.htm (xwing2), but are unable to see any xwings, and are unable to progress further than:

**1 853 6**
5** 24* ***
*** 79* ***
973 128 5**
285 964 317
**4 537 298
*** *15 ***
*** **9 **3
**6 3*2 4**

If anyone can give us a clue, it would be much appreciated, as we are getting very frustrated!

Thanks very much, Jen and Alex

First of all, if you want to give credit you should give it to the right person...

The bottom of that page (to which you linked) says: '(My thanks to "rubylips" for providing these sample puzzles.)' It is rubylibs that created them, not Simes...

Now about the puzzle, take a close look at the number 9.

Wow, thanks! As soon as I read your reply I saw what you meant, and it all fell into place! Now I can't believe we missed it.

And you're quite right in regards to acknowldegements, we apologise to Rubylips, and thank them for their source of puzzles... we'll have a go at the rest of them now! We also thank Simes for the great website, and providing links to Rubylip's puzzles.

Thanks for the tip!
