You will probably need to jot down the candidates from here, as there are several box/line eliminations and a few nakes sets to uncover before the rest folds.

You only need a hidden pair (or one of 2 naked triples) and singles.

Kent,

You've got to start posting your questions with a candidate grid so we know how far along you are. Just giving the solved cells doesn't tell us which candidate eliminations you've made. You can use any number of software apps to create a grid for you. This particular puzzle would be *very* challenging for most without pencilmarks.

Code: Select all

 *--------------------------------------------------------------------*
 | 2378   1      378    | 67     67     4      | 23     9      5      |
 | 2347   2347   37     | 9      5      1      | 23     6      8      |
 | 6      5      9      | 2      3      8      | 1      4      7      |
 |----------------------+----------------------+----------------------|
 | 78     9      1678   | 3      1467   67     | 468    5      2      |
 | 23     236    4      | 8      16     5      | 9      7      16     |
 | 5      678    1678   | 467    9      2      | 468    3      146    |
 |----------------------+----------------------+----------------------|
 | 9      467    2      | 467    8      67     | 5      1      3      |
 | 1      467    67     | 5      2      3      | 467    8      9      |
 | 3478   34678  5      | 1      467    9      | 467    2      46     |
 *--------------------------------------------------------------------*

One you've a complete grid, there are a lot of deductions available all at the same time.

A) Naked pair in row 1.
B) Naked pair in row 5.
C) Locked candidates in column 3/box 1
D) Naked triple in row 9 and box 7
E) Hidden pair (or Naked quad) in box 4
F) X-wing in 3's (gives same deductions as (C))

Also -- I just noticed that you've posted this same puzzle in several different threads. If you post a question, read the answers and reply in the same thread to those answers. It's not all about you, Kent.

Eh, what kind of question is that? You will probably have to work it out yourself. It's just a simple list of which numbers can go where.

If you really don't want to do it yourself, I suggest you enter your puzzle into a solver program, and it will most likely be able to list candidates for you.

Kent, I beseech think a little longer before posting for questions that verge on "where are my keys?" Read the forum. Read through the free tutorials. Read the manuals. Use the search facility. Work through the examples. Read the replies to your posts.

Please spend some time with these lists of SOLVING GUIDES and a TECHNIQUE indexes:

http://www.setbb.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=379&mforum=sudoku

and

http://forum.enjoysudoku.com/viewtopic.php?t=3315

Below are several other software and web choices for candidate grid creation. There are also many other software apps and websites that will do this, though not all of them will allow easy export or copy/paste.

Sudoku Susser: Select TEXT, POSSIBLITY LIST or one of several other choices, then shift-drag the diagram to an open wordpad doc (windows version):

Trying to explain this isn't easy but here's my attempt:

To post a puzzle to the Forum, including the candidate grid, from the Simple Sudoku program, you do the following:
After manually loading your puzzle into SS or copying and pasting a puzzle direct from the Forum into the SS program, in the Menu bar at top of the SS puzzle click on Edit then select Copy or alternatively select (Ctrl+C) on your keyboard.

Click on the appropriate button in the Forum to open a window box for posting a reply. Click on the code tag and paste (Ctrl +V) the puzzle into this window box and click the code tag again at the end of the puzzle. Note the / must precede the second code tag. To demonstrate this to you I have to use these () brackets to explain this to you whereas your brackets must look like this []. Your "Post a reply" window would look like this:

(code)
Puzzle pasted here
(/code)

Now copy and paste your puzzle as explained above from SS to this window using these correct brackets []. Note that the candidate grid is automatically shown simply from just copying the puzzle grid.

PS. I've just noticed you have some success but I'll let my above suggestion stand for possible interest to someone else.

Geez, Kent. What exactly do you want me to do? The puzzle is solved. You're asking too many questions and not bothering to examine the puzzle. You've got nothing but singles left. There's only one place for a 4 in column one, etc.

You couldn't possible have read my last post before shooting back with ths one.

Please press PREVIEW before posting so you'll be able to tell if your diagram is aligned correctly.
