Help!!

Postby smc » Mon Apr 18, 2005 1:25 pm

I am quite new to Sudoku and have become stuck on this puzzle from The Times and I don't see the next logical step. I'm obviously missing something (a brain you might say!) and any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Code: Select all
xx3 1x6 9xx
xxx 2xx xxx
x8x 354 x6x

x1x 965 x34
x4x 738 521
35x 421 x9x

x6x 543 x1x
xxx 81x xxx
xx1 6x2 4xx

Hi SMC,

Have a look at box one, and think about the digits 2, 7 & 9 - This should tell you the value for r3c1.

Either that or the digits 7 & 9 on row 2 lead to the answer for r2c5.

If that doesn't make sense, drop another post, and I'm sure either myself or someone else will explain further...

Good luck.

IJ

Thanks for the hint. I could see immediately that I could now put 8 in R6C7. and therefore 7 had to go in R3C7 and hence could complete C7.

I still had to ponder a while at this stage but have now successfully completed.

Thank you!:D
