HELP!! Stuck but am oh so close

Postby marders » Mon Jun 13, 2005 9:09 am

I have just started trying to solve these puzzles and after (on numerous occassions) spending a while looking for my next move and realising I had made a mistake I decided I would whip up something in excel to do the easy work for me...this has sped things up and removes any human erorr I introduce.

Anyway, I have been reasonably successful....until I came across this one and got as far as I have....what am I missing? I have been able to solve it by using the "if this number goes here then this number must be this and this number must be this...until you come across a discrepancy" (aka T&E I believe but lets not go into that right now).

Maybe there is an X-wing or swordfish (I have no idea how to identify these yet but I have found links explaining them so if someone can say, "Yes, there is an X wing with the 3" then I will concentrate on that).

Sorry but I dont know what level this puzzle is and I may have got it from this site(god knows where tho), sorry for any duplication!

thanks in advance

You got it from here: http://forum.enjoysudoku.com/viewtopic.php?t=387

This puzzle requires Trail and Error, there is no logical move at this time in the puzzle...

I think there is a swordfish in the 4's. Quite what you do with it though I'm not sure.[/quote]

In theory that is a swordfish... but it doesn't allow you to do anything, since the only 4's that are left are the ones forming the swordfish
