Help finding Sudoku Book

Postby thebigguY » Mon Nov 28, 2016 3:08 am

Hello - I need help finding any Sudoku books that can test me. I have been able to solve any sudoku puzzle that I have ever found in a book, no guessing, just using over 20 patterns that I look for. The only book that has ever, in my opinion, been worth my doing puzzles in, is Frank Longo's Absolutely Nasty Sudoku Level 4. Some of the last 60 or so puzzles were worth doing (needed patterns to solve), the rest in the front of the book were far too easy. I have tried numerous other books that are described as "extremely difficult", "The Hardest Sudoku Puzzles Ever", etc etc and they are all way too easy for me. The hardest ones printed in any newspaper are way too easy for me. I would dearly love to get Frank Longos Absolutely Nasty Sudoku Level 5, but it has been out of print for a long time and I can't find a copy anywhere (can anybody help me find one??). Or can anybody recommend to me any Sudoku book in print that really is genuine Extreme Sudoku? I should add that I am not a mathematician at all, and am not interested in puzzles that require tables or colouring in or guessing or Nishio or trial and error to solve them. The few puzzles that I have not been able to solve, I have entered into a computer solving program and every single one has come back with the answer "this puzzle is not solvable by traditional means" and the program is not even able to give me a hint of a next move. I'm not interested in those, usually put on line as "The world's hardest puzzle".
Thanks, hope somebody can help me.

I can recommend HoDoKu by Bernhard Hobiger:
http://hodoku.sourceforge.net/en/index.php
You can create puzzles of various difficulties. Excellent software.

I do also know that John Welch has reviewed many Sudoku books in his blog:
sysudoku.com

The forum has many threads with puzzles too. In particular, the link below offers daily hard puzzles:
