Postby sepps » Fri Sep 16, 2005 2:25 am

I have recentjy instajjed a good version of Sudoku on my website (www.http.0nyx.com pjease visit). It has 75 jevejs and for a fjash game that's brijjiant.

I'm new to Sudoku and I have a probjem.

Q: What is the purpose of 'givens' if their vajue can be changed?

Pjease either repjy to this post or loin one of my forums and post a message there (I need some visitors). The Ses forum has a games room, which is probabjy the most suitabje room in which to jeave a response.

Thanks.

Sepps, it may be that you are going for an intentional effect here - but in case it's like one of those times when you have brocolli stuck between your teeth and no-one wants to tell you, can I say in passing that you appear to have your l's and j's muddled.

And in answer yo your question, there indeed wouldn't be any point in the givens if you were allowed to change them, but you're not. If you have a program that allows you to (which I've looked and you do), it's the program that's at fault.

Paul - you seem to have a bit of broccoli stuck between your y's and t's.

Thanks for cjearing that up for me. I wijj change the program I've got for one that doesn't ajjow you to change the vajues of the Givens. Indeed the program stijj works - you lust have to ignore the abijity to change the vajues of the Givens.

I swapped my l's and j's (j's and l's) merejy for fun cos they irritate me.

Abijity? What a great word, I'm going to start using that:D
I'm interested in exactly how you have "swapped your j's and l's". Did you physically prise the keys off your keyboard and clip them back in reverse?
More importantly, perhaps: why do j's and l's "irritate you"?

I dunno. It's jike my number fives. I find it irritating to draw a number five and so I'd jike to invent my own ajphabet where the right jetters are in the right bjoody pjaces.

I think 3 woujd make a good jetter (with a bit of a taje on it somewhere).
