When a large ALS occupies all but one of the unsolved cells in its house there is usually a simpler interpretation.

In this case you could write (4=5)r1c58 - r7c5 = r7c3 - r56c3 = (5-4) r6c1 = (4) r5c2. This uses 3 fewer cells at the end and only two digits are involved in the whole chain.

Hope this helps, Leren

No, I prefer to minimize the quantity of "nodes" in my notation.
Mine has 4 nodes a,b,c,d.
(4=5)r1c58 - r7c5 = r7c3 - (5=4)r4c123,r5c23,r6c3

Yours has 6 nodes a,b,c,d,e,f.
(4=5)r1c58 - r7c5 = r7c3 - r56c3 = (5-4)r6c1 = (4)r5c2

Just like in the October 3, 2016 puzzle discussion, IMHO, I'd call it a tie if one uses (nodes + cells) as the metric. In this case it's 14 for either solution.

It's not a contest, it's my preference. :D
My road trip from (4=5)r1c58... to ... (5=4)r4c123,r5c23,r6c3 has only two toilet breaks (at r7c5 and r7c3). ;)

And that's reason enough, of course, but let's not forget the lesson that Leren is teaching. Any time an elimination results in an ALS that includes all but one cell in the group, then it's guaranteed that you've also created a hidden single in the remaining cell. That can be useful. Whether you use it, of course, will vary from case to case.
