Fastest Times

Postby sudokist » Fri Jul 22, 2005 7:19 pm

Two of my co-worker friends and I have been playing sudoku (using the download from this web site) for the past two months. Naturally, we end up competing. The fastest time (to solve) any of us has managed at the medium level is 3:36 (mm:ss). Our average time to solve at the medium level is 6:58. The fastest at the hard level is 7:36. All these qualified for the "Hall of Fame". Does anyone else have any idea of what the fastest times are out there?

I managed a Fiendish from a Time Book (i.e., a Pappocom Hard) in 4min15sec a bit ago, but it was nothing other than dumb luck on a relatively easy puzzle.

Well..:(:( am way down on the list. Well till date the fastest sudoku i have solved is in 4 min and it was also EASY.

Medium takes 9-10 min. and hard takes 17-23 min.

There are puzzles when i make a wrong guess and end up with error halfway so i leave it there.

I guess its lots for me to work out. i started solving 2 weeks ago.

my average for the telegraph diabolical puzzles is 7.5 mins.

my fastes time was 4mins 12 seconds.

the difficulty of many sudoku books seems to vary. 'hard' seems to range from mild to really difficult. does anyone have times for a specific book and level?

The Times Sudoku Championship Ultra Fiendish Grand Final Puzzle, was completed in about 9 minutes by the winner, Nina Pell, from what I remember, but others are free to correct me:)

Consider yourself lucky. I have an average time of about (and I am serious) 5-6 hours on a medium and have never even solved a hard one, (I've been working on it since yesterday) so compared to me, you're still in the upper echelon.:(:(:(
