many, many thanks to all of you who provided explanations to my posting under the same name. I apologize for the delay, but being a working man with lots of work at the moment (plus family and then Xmas is approaching, too) I only have time in the evening to pursue things like sudoku.
The material you provided was / is extremely helpful and gives me lots of stuff to read up on - from naked / hidden pairs or triples over 'forcing chains' to BUGS and (my goodness) 'bilocation-bivalue plot' - hope I didn't miss out on anything important.
