Does anyone keep the old Times sudokus?

Postby zebedeezbd » Fri Sep 16, 2005 5:52 pm

Is there anywhere one can access The Times su doku puzles 263, 264 and 265 (1st August) other than on The Times website from where the puzzles (but not the solutions) are mysteriously missing?

If anyone saves the old Times su doku puzzles, would they be kind enough to tell me what they were?

After doing a bit of searching online, I've found several of August's puzzles from the Times, but no puzzles from 1st August, I'm afraid. Why can't the Times make all its previous sudoku puzzles available in an archive, like the Telegraph does?

The Times could make all its sudoku puzzles available in an archive,
they've chosen not to;
let's be grateful for what we get at no charge!

simes has kindly provided the 2005.Aug.1 puzzles,
and may even have saved earlier puzzles
(such as 2005.Jan.31, Feb.1, Feb.8, Feb.10, which i don't have);
but if anyone starts posting too many of them,
we'll soon be hearing about copyright infringement---

Pappocom owns the copyright to all the sudoku puzzles published in The Times (othe than the killers) and since this forum is a Pappocom site primarily set up to discuss Pappocom puzzles I don't think this is an issue. Besides, Pappocom will delete any messages in these forums that he considers to be infringing copyright unacceptably.

That's not strictly true. All puzzles (#80 onwards) are available on The Times website if you search their index of past issues. The omission of August 1st is an exception that appears to be the result of an error rather than a deliberate choice. There's also one or two solutions missing from the Times archive online.

indeed the article at
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,18209-1714255,00.html
has now vanished,
however, those puzzles are still available at 2005.Aug.1!

i myself wasn't looking for the Aug.1 puzzles,
but i am somewhat curious about early puzzles, such as:

sorry to hear that simes doesn't have them!

by the way, early puzzles were un-numbered and un-rated,
e.g. 2004.Nov.26;
