i'm new to sudoku and just downloaded the sudoku program from this site. Please confirm whether or not a hard sudoku(as generated by this program) always requires guessing to solve completely.

Hi sanchay,
As you specifically refer to puzzles generated by the Pappocom programme the short answer would be 'No'. This question arises, usually from new members and you might find it interesting to click on "here" and read some related opinions on guessing from more experienced members. The enquiry was "Please confirm whether or not a hard sudoku(as generated by this program) always requires guessing to solve completely."

A simple "no" allows sanchay to infer that they *sometimes*, but not always, require guessing. Regardless of the differing points of view on what is and isn't guessing and whether or not the the methods used to crack the hardest possible puzzles cross a line -- there is complete consensus that the puzzles created by Pappocom software do not even approach such a line.
