Gurth, I don't understand the -497=597 in the second chain; what about the 1 in 97?

But why bother with all that? The -285 at the end of chain 1 leaves you with three 4/5 naked pairs in box 8, establishing your result.

Steve, the 1 in 97 was eliminated in chain 1.

I didn't spot the three 4/5 naked pairs in box 8: you are right, I should have stopped there.
