(8=3)r8c4-r2c4=r2c8-(3=1)r7c8-r7c5=1r8c6=>r8c6=1

Does this loop have a name?

Does this loop have a name?

In conventional Eureka notation, it would be a simple AIC (Alternating Inference Chain):
(8=3)r8c4-(3)r2c4=(3)r2c8-(3=1)r7c8-(1)r7c5=(1)r8c6 => r8c6<>8
It's not actually a loop, unless you include the two implied weak links [to (8)r8c6] at each end of the chain.

Thanks. I was under the impression that any chain that started and ended in the same house was a loop.

I might be a bit old fashioned, but to me this is a discontinuous nice loop:
8 (r8c6) - (8=3) r8c4 - r2c4 = r2c8 - (3=1) r7c8 - r7c5 = r8c6 => -8 r8c6

To be authentically old-fashioned you'd have to use nice-loop notation ... :)

Marty, if you added both (35) cells in that top band, I believe the proper name for the move would be
"XY-Chain That Threw In The Towel In The Last Node."
