my husband gave me this puzzle but for the first time i am truly stuck.
rather than give you the 4 numbers i was able to get...r3c9,
r7c1,r7c6and r8c2. could you tell me if you can solve it?
i keep thinking maybe he copied it incorrectly.
is there a way to print the puzzle & fill in or do you just do it the long way?
x2x xx6 xxx
3xx x2x xxx
xxx xxx 37x

549 xxx xxx
xxx xx1 9xx
xxx xx8 46x

x37 xxx x4x

thanks for any help you can offer. my email (maybe you know) is cdonovanad@aol.com

The puzzle is valid.

After the four entries you mentioned, look at the 9 in r6. There is only one location it can go.

As well as the 4 cells you put in, from basic sudoku elimination one can also determine R1C8, R5C5, R6C5.

from this you can fill in most 5's and 9's then look at the 6's. Where 6 can go in Box 3, will determine where 6 can go in Box 1.

After this you have to spot that in box 4, 8 is in Row 5, So in Box 6 8 must be in Row 4.

that will lead you to deduce that there is only one number that can go in R5C8.

the rest after this is easy sailing.
