coordinates for solution

Postby Bertil » Sun Aug 21, 2005 12:48 pm

Looking at the solution to the Daily SuDoku Sat. 20-Aug-2005 I'm
unable to understand the list of ten identified locations, such as
8 in 6,5, 5 in 6,7, 1 in 7,4 and so on.
By my first attempt to solve it I got 8 in r9,c1, 5 in r8,c4, 9 in r7,c1,
4 in r4,c3, 9 in r6,c4, 2 in r4,c6 3 in r5,c2, and 5 in r1,c6.
Please explain the coordinates listed after the solution.

Hi Bertil,

Well there are only two possibilities. Either the specified locations are in X,Y format or Y,X. Without seeing the puzzle though, it's hard to tell.

Y,X (or rYcX) is the more usual format, but X,Y (or cXrY) could also be used. Do the coordinates fit the answer?
