Completely stumped on four sudokus

Postby Glennen » Tue Sep 19, 2017 8:40 am

Hello,

I usually have a Soduko riddle book in my bathroom to pass the time while I do my business. And that book includes difficult riddles and one 5x5. Usually, I have no problems doing even the difficult ones.

But now I have encountered four riddles that have completely stumped me. Can anyone take a look and find out a number? I even used online solvers that use various ways of finding out the next number (like line exclusion, block exclusion, block scan etc) but not even that page can find a solution.

Sorry that the pic has that blurry look, the original was about 10 times the size of the maximum allowed upload size here

Hi,
Unless I made a mistake loading it, the first puzzle is not a sudoku, it has more than one solution.
same for the second one, likely same for all

In that particular book, I had several sudokus with more than one solution but that only became clear just before the end. But those four have me really stumped, I can't find out a single number...

Here are the "puzzles" in line format.

..352.94.7.4.36..2.8....361.........8...9...6..........2.......1...5.....7....2..
8....5..1162.7..4..542...83.2........4.....7........1.......83.......1..2.......4
....49..337..5.98....23..61..3......9.4...1.6......2......2......6......2...6....
5....4...829.35471...9...562.........7.....3.........2.........6.54..8..........7

They all have many solutions. The first one is obvious. Rows 4 and 6 are both blank, so any "solutions" for these two rows could obviously be swapped.

You can determine a solution count from a web solver here.

I put the first puzzle in and it stopped at the maximum count of 500 solutions.

Okay then, so either I put in the numbers and hope for the best or I simply ignore these...

By the way, I have no idea how to interpret that web solver ^^

It's easy enough. If you want to put in your own puzzle click on the red Clear button above the small grid on the left. Enter your clues in that grid and then click on the yellow Solution Count button on the right hand side above the larger grid.
