beginner question

Postby magpie » Wed Sep 21, 2005 9:07 pm

To the group:

I am a new enthusiast of Sudoku. While on hold in an interminable telephone conversation, I did the first Sudoku puzzle--rather, I started to do it. I got through the first three boxes on the top of the puzzle.

Checking my answers, I see that the top row of the first box contains the numbers 9, 6 and 3.

I had 3, 6, 9.

(1) Would I have realized my error if I had continued on, or (2) is it possible for there to be more than one correct way to do this (and all) puzzles?

Best regards,
Magpie

magpie,
Valid Sudoku puzzles (e.g. Pappocom puzzles) have only one solution, so you would have discovered the error.
