Oh dear, I try to work only from logic, and XY-wing doesn't explain it!
What is wrong with the assignments r5c1,3,4,6,9 = 4,9,5,3,6 and
r4c8 o9 = 9?

If r5c1=4 and r5c3=9, what do you put in r4c2?

Thank you RW. I was either blind or stupid (frequently both!)
So, if we now set r4c2, r5c9, and r7c8=9 we can fill in the bottom row.
BUT that's as far as I can go!

Remember that I started solving from Jasper's pm-grid, in that grid the '4' in r1c5 is eliminated (but no explanation to why). Without that elimination the puzzle seems to require some more forcing chains... Gotta run now, might have a look at it when I get back home in the evening.
