Hi Phil, I've added a version your stte survey idea to my solver. For this puzzle my results indicate that there is no single digit elimination that results in an stte finish. Do you agree ?

I don't like lclste solutions, but I'll take Leren's word for it. Might as well go Kraken, too.

Kraken 5c6 => -5 r3c9 ; lclste

5r3c - 5r3c9
5r4c6 - r4c7 = r5c9 - r3c9
5r8c6 - r8c1 = r46c1 - r5c2 = r5c9 - r3c9

Hi Leren
Yes, there are no single digit eliminations for an STTE result. The following eliminations give a LCLSTE result: 5 at r3c9; 5 at r4c7; 5 at r5c2; 5 at r8c1. The following assignments will solve puzzle with singles: 5 at r6c1; 6 at r9c6; I expect there are possible stte solutions with a chain or loop that gives multiple eliminations, where no single digit eliminations will suffice.
Cheers, Phil

Thanks for that Phil. Yesterday's puzzle had 11 single digits eliminations for an stte finish, which is more typical (for the daily puzzles).

Now that's how to check code - compare results with someone else who's written the same function in a different language :D.
