using some of your cells, Phil,
(4=9)r3c7 - (9=7)r4c7 - r4c1 = r9c1 - r9c2 = r2c2 = (7-4)r1c8 = 4r1c45 => r1c8 , r3c4 <> 4

Code: Select all
 8      9      567    | 3456   456    1      | 2     *347    35
 4     *17     1567   | 356    9      2      | 38     1378   1358
 15     2      3      |*45     8      7      | 49     6      159
 ---------------------+----------------------+---------------------
 197    8      179    | 2      3      6      | 79     5      4
 259    4      259    | 8      7      59     | 36     13     136
 3      6      579    | 1      45     459    | 789    2      89
 ---------------------+----------------------+---------------------
 69     5      49     | 7      2      348    | 1      348    368
 26     3      24     | 9      1      458    | 4568   48     7
 17     17     8      | 456    456    345    | 345    9      2

(7)r2c2 and (4)r3c4 . they cannot both be true, as (r1c8) cannot hold two digits.
so... (5)r3c4 = (1)r2c2 - (1=5)r3c1 => r3c9<>5
it doesn't solve the puzzle . just something to look at .
someone please confirm if this is right. thanks

Your chain looks OK to me : (5=4) r3c4 - r3c7 = (4-7) r1c8 = r1c3 - (7=1) r2c2 - (1=5) r3c1 => -5 r3c9

Same elimination as Phil by a different path: (7=1) r9c1 - r3c1 = (1-9) r3c9 = r3c7 - (9=7) r4c7 => -7 r4c1; stte
