Are problems like this able to be solved by logic alone?

I have become a bit addicted and have been looking for harder and harder puzzles and am not sure whether some of the hard puzzles are solvable without using trial and error, which annoys me a little so thought i would see what you guys think?

Here is an example, i have added one obvious number to the orginal set but the rest seems tricky, even using disjoint subset logic i struggle:

* * * * * * * * *
* * * * 7 8 * 9 *
3 * 7 * * * 5 * *

1 * * 8 2 * * * *
* 2 * 9 * * 1 * *
* * 9 * * 5 * 8 *

* * * * * * 6 * *
5 * * * 8 * * * *
* * 3 * * 1 * * 5

An imput would be great thanks all, not necessarly after a solution but am curious wheter some puzzles are only solvable by trial error..

I can't see any deductuve moves - it looks to me that T&E is required.

I can see that it's not a Pappocom puzzle, so where did it come from?

Yeah it's not a papacom puzzle i obtain it from another website, which i'm not sure i can post here but i was just curious wether i would find puzzles out there that are like this guess there is a limit to how dificult they can be without being solveable with logic.

Keep up the good work all btw simes your readme on solving methods is very good thankyou for you effort
