Aaargh!

Not fair, The Times. Not fair. I don't pick my paper up until about 3.30-4.00pm, when I go to my local post office to send my mail (I live in the country and run a mail order business), by which time it is too late to enter the SuDoku contest. How am I supposed to stand a chance for the champagne if the entries have to be in by noon? I did today's fiendish in 40 minutes. Here's the solution:

{Edited: The solution to today's puzzle appeared here, but I have removed it as I don't believe that the solution to a "today's" puzzle should appear in the forum. My apologies .. in other respects, your message is appreciated. - Wayne Gould (Pappocom)}

So, do I win my champagne? Do I heck.

Well look at it this way... with the popularity of Sudoku being what it is, and increasing daily, you don't stand much change of winning anyway!

At least you have a good excuse for the lack of champagne.

But there's a difference between "much chance" and no chance at all.

Yes, you're right.

Have you tried complaining to The Times themselves? They run the competition after all.

I would love to know how many entries they get every day.
How many people are we completing against?
hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands ?
Anyone from the Times here care to comment?
