 |...|82.|456|
 |62.|..4|..8|
 *-----------*

ss solves it to here:
Code: Select all
*-----------------------------------------------------------*
 | 19    1489  1489  | 5     347   37    | 2     6     79    |
 | 3     6     7     | 2     9     1     | 5     8     4     |
 | 2     459   459   | 47    6     8     | 13@    13@    79    |
 |-------------------+-------------------+-------------------|
 | 4     379   39    | 1     37    6     | 8     2     5     |
 | 8     37    2     | 347   3457  357   | 6     9     1     |
 | 15    15    6     | 9     8     2     | 7     4     3     |
 |-------------------+-------------------+-------------------|
 | 579   48    48    | 6     1     3579x  | 39#    37#    2     |
 | 179   139   139   | 8     2     379   | 4     5     6     |
 | 6     2     359   | 37    357   4     | 139@   137@   8     |
 *-----------------------------------------------------------*

When x = 3
(3)R7C6 - (9)R7C7 - (7)R7C8 = (13) R9C78 & (13) R3C78 {Ur pattern}
=> R7C6 <>3

is this some kind of ur pattern? and if so which one
Some do, some teach, the rest look it up.

It's a straight-up type 4 UR on [13], so r9c78 <> 3.

Type 4: x-wing overlay with conjugate pairs.

also, note that in the UR pattern, in r9c78 there is a strong inference on 7 and 9, neither can be false.

13URr39c78[(9)r9c7 = (7)r9c8]...

13URr39c78[(9)r9c7 = (7)r9c8]...

I'm not sure what that means. Care to elaborate?

BTW, there's another type 4 UR in this same PM:
Code: Select all
*-----------------------------------------------------------*
 | 19   *1489 *1489  | 5     347   37    | 2     6     79    |
 | 3     6     7     | 2     9     1     | 5     8     4     |
 | 2     459   459   | 47    6     8     | 13    13    79    |
 |-------------------+-------------------+-------------------|
 | 4     379   39    | 1     37    6     | 8     2     5     |
 | 8     37    2     | 347   3457  357   | 6     9     1     |
 | 15    15    6     | 9     8     2     | 7     4     3     |
 |-------------------+-------------------+-------------------|
 | 579  *48   *48    | 6     1     3579  | 39    37    2     |
 | 179   139   139   | 8     2     379   | 4     5     6     |
 | 6     2     359   | 37    357   4     | 139   137   8     |
 *-----------------------------------------------------------*

I really liked this puzzle...it puts up a fight but solves w/out the drudgery of AIC's, forcing chains, etc.

I'm not sure what that means. Care to elaborate?

I was quite simply stating the obvious that the 9 or the 7 in r9c78 can't both be false.

so because of the UR (1,3) we can see that there is a strong inference on 7 and 9 in r9c78.

I am not making any eliminations.

I am also guessing that there really isn't a standard way to express this in EUREKA!.
